Publisher: | Begell House Inc. | Abstract: | This study presents a two dimensional numerical investigation of interaction between hot humid air and sub-cooled water which is sprayed contrary to the airflow direction. The droplet evaporation and condensation are analyzed using ANSYS-FLUENT commercial software. Diameter of water droplets are chosen between 8 µm and 12 µm and mass flow rates are in the range of 2.5 g/s and 4 g/s. Analysis predict that droplet transport and evaporation depend on droplet diameter and mass flow rate of the water-spray. By decreasing the droplet size more evaporation and condensation is achieved, and as a result, more heat is released. It is also shown that increasing mass flow rate of the water spray leads to heat transfer enhancement and reduction of humidity. © 2014, Begell House Inc.
