In this paper we studied the problem of optimal relay placement in a IEEE w[cF] 5j based multihop relay network. Such networks support heterogeneous traffic and our aim in relay placement is to satisfy real time traffic rate requirements while maximizing the total proportional fair capacity for the nonyreal time traffic Considering the complexity of the problem we considered a tany dem network with a single relay stationgwhere the base station uses the relays to access all service stations. The obtained relay placement scheme is tested with a resource allocation algorithm and it is observed that it indeed provides good performance.en_US
