Abdallar, Akıncılar, Bektaşilik ve Ehl-i Beyt Sevgisi: Yemînî'nin muhiti ve meşrebi üzerine notlar

Abstract

Though being among the most prominent poets of the Alevi-Bektashi tradition, Yemini is barely known to modern scholars. Neither the Ottoman biographers mention about him. The principal reason lying behind this 'uninterested' attitude is lack of sources. Our knowledge about the poet is drawn on his versified work Fazilet-name. This is in essence a translation of shaykh Rukneddin's prose work in Persian. Nevertheless, Yemini provides us with valuable information regarding his time and himself by additions he sprinkled throughout his translation. A careful labor focusing on these additions of Yemini to the original text would extend our knowledge on the historical life of the poet, as well as his religious stand and environment. The present article aims to fulfill such a task.
