Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu ve hikayeciliği

Abstract

Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu, Türk edebiyatında romanlarıyla ün kazanmış biri olsa bile hikâye türünde de çok sayıda eserler vermiş bir sanatçıdır. İlk eserlerini İkinci Meşrutiyet'in ilanının ardından veren sanatçı, seksen beş yıllık ömründe Türk edebiyatının çeşitli dönemlerine şahit olmuş ve güçlü kalemi ile her türlü toplumsal gelişmeyi eserlerinde yansıtmaya çalışmıştır. Hikayecilik dönemi, İkinci Meşrutiyet'ten Cumhuriyet'in ilanına kadar süren yazarın aynı zamanda Fecr-i Ati topluluğuna mensup olduğu da bilinmektedir. Balkan Savaşları ve Birinci Dünya Savaşı gibi gelişmeler sebebiyle Yakup Kadri'nin hem düşünceleri hem de edebi zihniyeti, buna paralel olarak da hikayeleri yavaş yavaş değişime uğrar. Hikayeciliğinin ilk yıllarında daha bireysel temaları işleyen Karaosmanoğlu, bilahâre Mütareke ve Milli Mücadele Dönemlerinde savaşın toplum üzerindeki tahribatına dair daha yeni hikayeler kaleme alır. Karaosmanoğlu'nun hem kendisinde hem de Türk edebiyatındaki değişimlerin izinin en rahat sürülebildiği metinler olan hikayeleri, bugüne kadar romanlarının gölgesinde kalmış ve bütüncül bir bakış açısıyla üzerinde tez seviyesinde herhangi bir çalışma yapılmamıştır. Bu çalışmada, Yakup Kadri'nin hikayeciliği dönem atmosferine bağlı olarak değerlendirilmiş ve hikayeleri toplu bir biçimde ele alınmaya çalışılmıştır. Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu, even making his mark with his novels in Turkish literature, is an artist who also composed many works on the story genre. The artist, who gave his very first works after the announcement of the Second Constitutional Period; witnessed several periods of Turkish literature in his 85 years of lifetime and tried to reflect every kind of social development upon his works by his powerful writing. It is known that the writer, whose storytelling period lasted from the Second Constitutional Period to the proclamation of the Republic, was also connected to the Fecr-i Ati Community. As a result of such developments like the Balkan Wars and the First World War, both Yakup Kadri's thoughts and literary identity; and correspondingly his stories went through some gradual changes. Karaosmanoğlu, who have worked more on individualistic themes on his first years of storytelling, subsequently wrote new stories about the destruction of the war on the society during the Armistice and War of Independence periods. Karaosmanoğlu's stories, which are the texts that can be traced the easiest in order to see the differences in both himself and the Turkish literature, were overshadowed by his novels and there is no study done with a holistic view at a thesis level. In this thesis study, Yakup Kadri's storytelling is evaluated based on the atmosphere of the periods and his stories are tried to be handled as a whole.
