In this study, a novel meta-heuristic termed Chaotic Artificial Rabbits Optimization (CARO) algorithm is introduced and examined for optimizing engineering problems. CARO combines the explorative benefits of the recently developed Artificial Rabbits Optimization (ARO) algorithm with the exploitation abilities of chaotic maps. Multiple chaotic maps are utilized in the proposed ARO to manage its parameters, ultimately leading to a balanced exploration and exploitation of the search. Notable mechanical engineering problems are addressed in this research to demonstrate the efficiency of the algorithms. The findings indicate that CARO serves as an effective tool for solving real-world engineering challenges.en_US
