Abstract: In Hurufi literature, the dreams which are interpreted by Fazlullah, the instructor of Hurufism and considered as the owner of interpretation were collected in the books named Hâbnâme and Nevmnâme. Nonetheless, in these manuscripts not only the interpretations of dreams but also those of other subjects can be found. There have not been researches on this literature which is important for the history of culture and Hurufism. In this paper, firstly the oeuvres in which the dream interpretations of Fazlullah cited, like Sayyid Ishaq’s Khâbnâma and Abdulmajid b. Firishtah (Firishtaoghlu)’s Tarjama-i Khâbnâme, will be introduced. Secondly, the fact that hurufis consider the dream interpretations as a part of divine science of interpretation, and it’s philosophical background will be explained. In the paper, the process of Fazlullah’s obtaining this science of interpretation will be given. Fazlullah’s dream interpretations will be analyzed separately. These dreams will be classified from the point of view the dreamers, subjects and the way of interpretations. In these hurufi oeuvres which relate to dream interpretations, it can be seen that the writers have an objective to demonstrate Fazlullah’s supremacy. Furthermore, Fazlullah’s dream interpretations give important information on the social life of that time. © 2011, Milli Folklor Dergisi. All rights reserved.
