He has served as vice-chairman of mechanical engineering department of METU (1974-1977), vice-president of METU (1977-1978) and dean of school of engineering of Gazi University (1982-1992). He was vice- president, dean and department head at TOBB ETÜ. At present he works as a professor at the Mechanical Engineering Department.
His areas of professional interest include system dynamics, control systems, fluid power control, modelling, simulation, measurement systems, energy systems and industrial emission control. He has taught undergraduate courses in system dynamics, control systems and dynamics of machinery as well as graduate level courses in advanced dynamics, optimal control and fluid power control. He has supervised of 28 masters and 5 Ph.D. theses. He has worked in about 80 projects in many of which he was the project supervisor. He has done professional consulting and provided engineering services to about 250 industrial companies. He has one patent.
He is member of many professional societies such as TMMO, TOK, TIBTD, MATİM. He has refereed for many national and international scientific journals, and he was editor of Journal of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of Gazi University from 1986 to 1991.
He has published four books and working on a fifth one. He has edited two books and written a book chapter. He has about 20 articles, mostly published in international journals, 70 printed conference papers and 80 project reports.
He was awarded an Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship and he did research in Germany between 1979 and 1981.
His hobies are classical music and hiking.
