Biography

Sanem Baykal is a professor of EU Law at TOBB-ETU Law Faculty. She graduated from Ankara University Law Faculty in 1990 and started her academic career as a research assistant in 1992 at the same University. She obtained her LLM (1994) from University of London as a Jean Monnet Scholar and her PhD (2001) from Ankara University in EU Law. During 2004-2005 Sanem Baykal did post doc research at NYU Law School as a “Hauser Research Scholar” and “Emile Noel Fellow”. She served as the director of the EU Law Directorate at the Turkish Ministry for EU Affairs between 2009-2012 and became a full professor at Ankara University Law Faculty in 2014. Sanem Baykal has worked as the Head of Department of Graduate Studies of European Union between 2010-2018 and the Deputy Director and Director of EU Research Centre (ATAUM) of Ankara University between 2012-2018. Since August 2019 Sanem Baykal is a faculty member of TOBB-ETU Law Faculty. Sanem Baykal’s research interests are “European integration”, “EU Law” and “Turkey-EU Relations”.
